What to do if you are sexually assaulted

  • The first thing that you should do if you have been sexually assaulted is get to a safe place. Lewis University encourages students to report the matter promptly to campus police.

  • It is also important to try and preserve any possible evidence. This may include (but is not limited to) clothing, beverages, weapons, etc. Try not to touch anything until the police have arrived.

  • Avoid bathing, washing hair or going to the bathroom.

  • Get medical care as soon as possible. Even if you do not think that you have any injuries you should still have a medical exam. You can also get tested for drugs if you believed you were given something without your consent.

  • If you want to make a report contact LUPD or the Title IX Coordinator deputiesnumbers listed above.
